Newsknife.com last week released its top ratings for news sites most often linked on Google News in 2006. The top 10:
- ABC News
- New York Times
- Reuters
- Washington Post
- Times Online, UK
- Forbes
- Guardian Unlimited
- Voice of America
- Christian Science Monitor
- International Herald Tribune
The rankings haven’t changed much since last year, although SFgate.com has dropped from the top 10 and The Christian Science Monitor has moved up.
Newsknife says, “The notable feature this year is how little the list of top sites has changed over the last three years. Despite the belief that the Internet is unleashing a wave of change, it appears that an aristocracy of news sites is settling in. It looks unlikely that newcomers will replace these sites soon as America’s favorite news sources. And, many of these sites have print media associations. Maybe printed news will be around for a while too.”
