Lenovo Group is offering more power for its small and midsize business PC users.
The Raleigh, N.C., PC maker announced Oct. 31 that it would begin offering Intels Core 2 Duo processors in two of its notebooks in the companys new 3000 line.
Lenovo also announced a new desktop—the J110—that is now being offered in the 3000 as well. There has been speculation since September about when the new desktop would arrive.
The company began offering its Lenovo 3000 line of notebooks and desktops in February as a way to reach SMBs (small and midsize businesses).
By offering dual-core processors in some of its PCs, Lenovo is looking to entice businesses with greater performance for running applications and connecting to networks.
On Sept. 19, Lenovo announced that its 3000 N100 notebook would be the first Lenovo-brand PC sold in the United States to offer the Core 2 Duo processor.
In its latest announcement, Lenovo said it would offer the Core 2 Duo processor in its V100 notebook, which had been part of the original 3000 lineup. In addition, the company also announced a new notebook, called the C200.
The C200 offers either Intel Core 2 Duo 1.66GHz processor of the Celeron M 1.60GHz processor.
The notebook also comes with a 945GM graphic chip set, 512MB of RAM, and optional 40GB or 80GB hard drive, 15-inch display and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, according to Lenovos Web site.
The V100 notebooks comes with either a Core 2 Duo T5500, which runs at 1.6GHz, a T5600, which runs at 1.83GHz, or the T7200, which runs at 2.0GHz. The notebook also comes with a standard 512 of RAM, a hard drive of 40GB, 80GB or 100GB, a 12.1-inch display and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive.
Lenovo added that the V100 will an optional 802.11n standard wireless network technology.
The new J100 desktop in the 3000 line with offer Intels Pentium D processor, which runs at 3GHz, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
All three PCs use Microsofts Windows operating system and are Vista ready, Lenovo said in its statement.
All three PCs are available immediately from Lenovo. The J110 starts at $549, the C200 at $649 and the V100 at $999, according to Lenovo.
