Users looking for a “fast” notebook can check out Acer America, which is rolling out this month a colorful thin-and-light notebook that marks the computer makers partnership with the Scuderia Ferrari racing team.
The Ferrari 3000 offers technology such as a mobile Athlon XP-M 2500+ chip, from Advanced Micro Devices, and an ATI Technologies Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics chip. The unit is housed in an exterior of four coats of patented Ferrari Red paint and a metallic-silver palm rest area that includes the Ferrari Yellow prancing-horse design.
The notebook comes with a 15-inch display, up to 2GB of system memory, 802.11g capabilities, four USB 2.0 ports, a 60GB ATA/100 removable hard drive and up to 4 hours of battery life. Pricing starts at $1,899.
The laptop also features a color-coordinated USB mouse. Acer officials hope the Ferrari 3000 will attract PC and racing fans alike.
