Watchfire Corp.s Bobby is a robust Web site accessibility testing tool aimed at developers (see screen).
Version 5.0 of the Windows-based system, released last month, gains new connectivity features, including the capability to test sites that require log-ins, better proxy support and an improved Secure Sockets Layer connection. Reports have also been designed to be easier to understand, and the application integrates with HTML editors such as Macromedia Inc.s Dreamweaver and Microsoft Corp.s FrontPage. Bobby 5.0 costs $299. The free online Bobby service checks single Web pages for accessibility performance.
Watchfire last week also made available its free WebXACT testing service. WebXACT tests single Web pages for adherence to privacy and quality guidelines, in addition to accessibility issues.
