MySQL AB is gluing its open-source database into Business Objects Business Intelligence software.
The two have signed a new OEM referral agreement, under which they will jointly sell a MySQL Network database subscription service with Business Objects BI software.
The announcement builds on a partnership the two forged in April, in which MySQL said it would embed its database into BusinessObjects XI for use on Linux and Unix operating systems.
With the new OEM referral agreement, the companies will create several bundled offerings for reporting and data integration for the MySQL database through MySQL Network.
The bundles include Crystal Reports, for presentation-quality reporting, and BusinessObjects Data Integrator, for enterprise-class data integration.
“The modern enterprise requires fully featured and seamlessly integrated solutions that deliver better value and service to end users,” Mark Burton, executive vice president of worldwide sales for MySQL AB, was quoted as saying in a release.
“Employing MySQL Network, these new BI solutions deliver superior speed, reliability and ease of use when compared with traditional database technology. The combination of Business Objects and MySQL technology can help organizations meet a broad spectrum of reporting and BI needs—including data access, information presentation and information delivery.”
The two companies are jointly testing, certifying and supporting the bundles.
