Splunk, provider of a software platform for real-time operational intelligence has upped its cloud game by, among other things, offering a 100 percent uptime service level agreement (SLA) for Splunk Cloud.
In addition to the new SLA commitment, Splunk also is offering new lower prices and new cloud service plans. Splunk Cloud is an enterprise-ready cloud service for machine data.
Praveen Rangath, director of product marketing for Splunk Cloud, told eWEEK Splunk is first in the machine data analytics space to offer a service it deems so reliable that the company is guaranteeing a 100 percent uptime SLA. Potential customers can experience the Splunk Cloud firsthand through the free Splunk Online Sandbox, he said.
“We’ve been running consistently at 100 percent uptime, and that’s a key part of our being able to run this business and offer this guarantee,” Rangath said.
“Organizations cannot afford downtime on data platforms that monitor their applications, infrastructure and services,” said Guido Schroeder, senior vice president of products at Splunk, in a statement. “With Splunk Cloud, customers get best-in-class enterprise-ready reliability, an unequaled breadth of features, and ease-of-use that enables rapid time to value. Splunk Cloud is the most comprehensive SaaS platform for operational intelligence, offering the full power of Splunk Enterprise as a highly reliable, scalable and flexible cloud service.”
Splunk also announced a 33 percent price reduction made possible by increased operational efficiency. And the company added new scalability and flexibility supporting service plans up to five terabytes a day and offering up to 10 times data bursting. The free Splunk Online Sandbox makes it easy for customers to immediately get started with a personal Splunk Cloud environment.
“We’ve been seeing organizations start to move their mission critical applications to the cloud, but many still see availability and uptime as a significant barrier,” said Dennis Callaghan, senior analyst at 451 Research, in a statement. “By guaranteeing 100 percent uptime in its SLA, Splunk Cloud should help ease some of the performance monitoring and visibility concerns associated with applications and infrastructure running in the cloud.”
