Xerox announced Feb. 20 that it has added to its continuous-feed printer line with its Xerox 495 Continuous Feed Duplex Printer, a high-end production printer designed for commercial print shops, service bureaus and other large organizations that have a need for high-volume print jobs.
The Xerox 495 lets commercial print providers publish high-volume publications such as owners manuals, catalogs and on-demand books while also having “wide-web duplex printing” capabilities, which allows businesses to simultaneously print both sides of an 18-inch-wide web with a single, compact print engine, helping businesses to save a large amount of space.
“The development of high-speed digital continuous feed printers provides an opportunity for print providers to produce new revenue-generating applications and also provides a great way to handle traditional, data-driven applications like invoices, statements, policies and reports with the speed, reliability and power needed for digital production,” said Scott Wagner, manager of Worldwide Marketing at Stamford, Conn.-based Xerox.
The new high-end printer from Xerox also allows users to switch between print-on-demand jobs such as newsletters and brochures and transactional jobs, which enables a business to increase their page-volume growth.
“For companies large enough to employ their own in-plant production facility, the Xerox 495 offers a way to efficiently and cost-effectively produce transactional jobs, such as invoices or statements, with the ability to add personalization and marketing messages,” Wagner said.
The new addition to the continuous-feed printer line also features non-contact flash fusing technology, which develops an image using high-intensity flash lamps and uses a specially designed toner to keep direct heat and pressure off the paper, decreasing the chances of paper jams.
The Xerox 495 printer also offers a way to print on either roll or box fed pin-fed paper at 115 feet per minute while also providing users with an auto-loading and auto-registration/alignment system that allows for regular stock changes.
“Continuous feed solutions enable tremendous productivity increases per employee and for the enterprise,” Wagner said.
The new printer from Xerox also comes with a built-in Xerox print controller and a color touch-screen graphical interface, letting users set up and monitor their print jobs.
The Xerox 495 Continuous Feed Duplex Printer is available immediately through Xerox sales representatives at a list price of $425,000.
