[WP_IMAGE] The Open Data Center Alliance Service Catalog usage model is by far the most detailed of the publications issued in the first round of requirements. In many ways, the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) attempts in the Service Catalog (SC) a codification of the real interaction between cloud providers and cloud consumers. Fans of […]
[WP_IMAGE] Simon Crosby, one of the most outspoken, provocative, and combative of Citix’s CTOs, resigned today. According to the Citrix press release, Crosby and Xen open source platform co-founder Ian Pratt are leaving to form a new company called “Bromium.” XenServer, XenApp, XenDesktop, XenClient, Citrix Receiver, and Citrix Open Cloud represent half of the named […]
[WP_IMAGE] The Open Data Center Alliance Standard Units of Measure of IaaS is the beginnings of a framework designed to help cloud consumers make rational choices about which cloud providers to use based on apples-to-apples comparisons. A divide as real as any weather front separates private, wholly owned data centers from public, capacity-for-hire cloud providers. There is a role for IT in creating a bridge across this divide as virtualization of all types enables more efficient application development, virtual machine provisioning and business continuity. A bridged private/public cloud promises efficient workload […]
