I don’t usually post about this stuff. But, since I’m just getting back into the swing of things in 2007, and since I just happened to be on the Google jobs page, I noticed that the deadline for the Anita Borg scholarship is January 15, 2007.
According to Google, candidates must:
- be entering their senior year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program in 2007-2008 at a university in the United States.
- be Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field majors.
- be enrolled in full-time study in 2007-2008.
- maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.5 on a 5.0 scale or equivalent in their current program.
Anita Borg was a computer scientist and founding director of the Institute for Women and Technology. I don’t know much about her personally, but Wikipedia says she spent 12 years in Digital Equipment’s Western Research Laboratory and as consultant engineer in the Network Systems Laboratory in Palo Alto. Good luck to the entrants!
