1Plantronics InstantMeeting Promises Easy Conferencing to Android and BlackBerry
by Andrew Garcia
2Call List
InstantMeeting combs through the calendar to find BlackBerry or Android users’ calendars, culling the dial in information from supported conference providers.
3A Good Call
With some providers, the dial-in number and meeting ID are recognized, to be dialed when it is time to make the call.
4Call Now
Right before meeting time, InstantMeeting pops a screen making it a one-click proposition to dial and connect to a conference call.
5Correct Errors
I often found that InstantMeeting couldn’t quite find all the information needed to connect the call. In those cases, users need to find and insert the data manually into InstantMeeting, defeating the whole purpose for using the app.
6Find It Yourself
InstantMeeting makes it clear what information the user needs to provide to complete the call.
7Supported Providers
The list of supported conference providers is a bit unclear. The three listed here should work, but others Plantronics claims are supported, like WebEx or LiveMeeting , didn’t work completely in my tests.
8Moderator
Users can also manually populate their moderator credentials when necessary.
9Permissions
InstantMeeting will request access to certain APIs during installation.
