The 2U HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 can be equipped with up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 family processors.
2Interior Overview
The ProLiant DL380p Gen8 has 24 dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slots for a maximum of 768GB of double data rate type 3 (DDR3) RAM and hot-swappable components throughout.
3Clear Cowl
The clear cowl is hard to see in the photo because it’s transparent. If you look carefully at the middle of the chassis, you’ll see white stencil marks that show where the cowl is installed.
4Tool-Less Riser, Step 1
Internal components, including both riser cages, can be removed without using tools.
5FlexibleLOM
The new FlexibleLOM (LAN on motherboard) made it easy for me to substitute four 1G-bit network interface cards (NICs) in place of the two 10G-bit ports that were shipped with my test system and indicated by the orange arrow.
6Gen3 Riser Cage
The two riser cages provide a total of six PCIe Gen3 slots in a variety of configurations.
7Internal Cabling
Internal cable runs—for example, the two serial-attached SCSI (SAS) port connectors shown here—are neatly cabled to improve airflow through the chassis.
8Power Supply
The dual power supplies can be up to 94 percent efficient. My test unit had 750-watt supplies. The DL380 Gen8 can be ordered with 1,200-watt power supplies.
9Network and iLO Management Engine
Here you see the FlexibleLOM with four 1G-bit NICs and the iLO network port with its gray cable.
