1A Look at BlackBerry Passport’s Two Designs: Rounded and Square
By Todd R. Weiss
2BlackBerry’s Passport Is Rounded Off for AT&T
To provide a distinctive model for its customers, AT&T worked with BlackBerry to get an exclusive rounded-off version of the Passport that gives the device softer edges than the original square-edged Passport that debuted in September 2014. Here’s a view of the AT&T version.
3Soft Edges and Round Corners
The rounded Passport model for AT&T features the same specifications as the phone’s original model, including a 13-megapixel main camera and 32GB of onboard storage. The rounded Passport will be sold for $649.99 without a contract or for $199.99 with a two-year agreement.
4The Two Models Have the Same Internal Components
The rounded and square-edged Passports have the same internal parts, including a 4.5-inch square full HD touch-screen display, a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor and more. The Passport phones are similar in size to a U.S. passport.
5Original Square-Edge Version Is Just as Stylish
The original Passport, released in September 2014 with its square edges and corners, runs on the same secure enterprise BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.1 that is used on the upcoming AT&T version of the phone.
6Both Use BlackBerry’s Excellent Collaboration Tools
Included in both the original and AT&T versions of the Passport is BlackBerry Assistant, a voice and text command application that enables users to manage work and personal email, contacts, calendar and other features through simple commands.
7$550 in Rebates for iPhone Customers Who Switch by Feb. 13
In November, BlackBerry launched a rebate offer of up to $550 to iPhone owners who trade their iPhone 4S through iPhone 6 smartphones in for a new BlackBerry Passport phone. The rebates are for purchases made through Feb. 13. Check ShopBlackBerry.com or Amazon for details.
8Long-Lasting Battery Life, Earbuds Included
Both models of the Passport include 32GB of onboard storage and a 3,450-mAh battery, which provides long battery life for busy users.
9Access to BlackBerry’s Appstore
The original and AT&T versions of the Passport also include built-in access to the app-filled BlackBerry Appstore, where users can choose from thousands of apps to customize and fill out their phones with business, personal and other app choices.
10Three Colors to Choose From Through BlackBerry
The original Passport can be purchased from BlackBerry in black, white or red, while color choices have not yet been announced by AT&T for its upcoming rounded version.
