Supply chain analytics software provider Silvon Software Inc. and Business Forecast Systems Inc. (BFS) announced an alliance this week that will combine analytics and forecasting technologies to help manufacturers better handle rapid product introduction, shorter product lifecycles and varied product configurations.
BFS will combine its forecasting functionality with Silvons demand planning capabilities to upgrade the Silvon Stratum suite of analytic applications.
Under the terms of the agreement, Silvon, of Westmont, Ill., will offer BFS Forecast Pro software as an add-on to its planning and forecasting app, with total integration to the Silvon Sales Performance Management module.
Forcast Pro has a rules-based expert system to analyze data, select the appropriate forecasting technique and explain the reasoning behind the selection.
The integrated Silvon-BFS module will be available from Silvon in mid-2002, when the company announces general availability of its next major product release, Stratum 3.0.
The Stratum suite includes performance management modules for sales, marketing, manufacturing, procurement and e-business as well as Customer Relationship Analytics and Activity Cost Management modules.
Mike Hennel, president and CEO of Silvon said the combined offering from Silvon and BFS will give organizations a single, unified foundation to produce sales forecasts, measure the accuracy of forecasts against stales achievements and make better demand planning decisions.
Silvon apps run on IBM AS/400, Windows NT and Unix platforms.
