3Com Corp. is continuing to expand its switch line this week with two new managed switches and an addition to its unmanaged line.
3Com, of Santa Clara, Calif., on Monday launched the SuperStack 3 Switch 4200 family aimed at enterprise workgroups, wiring closets and small business networks. It includes the SuperStack 3 Switch 4226T and the SuperStack 3 Switch 4250T.
Both of these Layer 2 stackable switches, available in mid-July, offer features such as link aggregation and support for 802.1Q VLAN tagging and 802.1p traffic prioritization. The 4226T is priced at $995, and the 4250T is priced at $1,995.
“We are offering the SuperStack 3 Switch 4200 for users looking for reliable, practical, high-performance 10/100 switches at affordable prices,” said Kathy Rocha, a vice president and general manager in 3Coms Business Networks Company.
The 4226T includes 24 10/100 ports and two 10/100/1000 downlink ports while the 4250T includes 48 10/100 ports and two 10/100/1000 downlink ports.
The switches come with the 3Com Network Supervisor, the companys network management application, which graphically finds, maps and displays network links and IP devices.
For businesses not needing network management features, 3Com is adding another switch to its unmanaged SuperStack 3 Baseline family. The new switch has 48 10/100 ports and two 10/100/1000 ports and will be available in mid-August with a price of $1,195. It is suited for offices with a growing number of users and higher bandwidth requirements, officials said.
