Software development and EAI [enterprise application integration] vendor Skywire Software LLC, announced today the next iteration of its Object Manager, version 3.4.
Object Manager software provides functionality for SAP AGs systems, including management, client comparison and backup and recovery functionalities.
With the release of 3.4, Skywire has added enhancements to the labor-intensive, manual process of moving transports and synchronizing clients within a complex SAP environment, such as SAPs ERP [enterprise resource planning] R/3 system that can have environments for development, quality assurance, production, technical sandbox, regression testing and training.
Designed to automate the transport management process, Object Manager provides functionality for monitoring and tracking change management within SAP, according to Skywire officials in Frisco, Texas. The suite also provides functionality to undo a transport.
Object Manager has three modules: Transport Management, which controls and processes changes made to the system during development, testing and production; Client Comparison Management, which alerts the support team if the client configuration or data tables are not synchronized; and Backup and Recovery Management, which allows for on-the-fly backup and recovery of dictionary objects.
The 3.4 upgrades include added uploading and downloading of transport request files and modified configuration dialogue to allow return to previous settings, if a new setting could not be saved due to the unavailability of a remote system.
Skywire expects to release the next major upgrade, 4.0, in fall of 2002. Added functionality there will include the ability to support shared transport directories, save multiple transport clusters, authorize by transport contents and additional reporting for auditing transports within an SAP system, officials said.
