In another move for Apple Computers PowerSchool division, the groups president has announced her departure.
Cheryl Vedoe has been appointed president and CEO of Apex Learning, a Bellevue, Wash., provider of online courses and instructional materials for high schools.
Vedoes move follows a June reorganization of the companys education sales and marketing operations, apparently sparked by recent Apple losses in its traditional market stronghold. That shuffle put Apples school sales and marketing efforts under returning Apple veteran John Couch.
Vedoe, who joined Apple in October 2000 as head of the education marketing team, became president of PowerSchool, a provider of Web-based student information systems for K-12 schools and school districts. “The PowerSchool development, sales and marketing teams will now report to Cheryl, creating a FileMaker Inc. style organization that has the single goal of making PowerSchools products successful in the education market,” Jobs reportedly wrote at the time in a companywide memo.
Last week, sources said, Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Avadis Tevanian announced that Steven Glass, vice president of the Cupertino, Calif., companys Mac OS Engineering group, would take a new position at PowerSchool. Glass Mac OS 9 engineers will now report to Platform Technologies, the group headed by Bertrand Serlet that is primarily responsible for development of the Unix-based Mac OS X.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple declined to comment on whether it had selected a replacement for Vedoe.
